What a DAY!! A traditional Macedonian celebration in every way. Katerina and Johnathan’s wedding day had everything.
To start the day, family and friends gathered at the family home and the Macedonian cultural traditions began with the customary shaving of the groom. Johnathan sat calmly in his seat while Katerina’s brother applied the shaving cream. It is believed that in ancient times the groom was so nervous on his wedding day that he could cut himself, so a steady and reliable hand was needed to do the job.
Once the music started there was dancing and drinking in the streets and the celebrations began.
A traditional church service was held at the Macedonian Orthodox Church St Nicola in North Perth. After the service, it was time for some family photos and then moving on to some of Perth’s beautiful inner-city photo locations before Katerina & Johnathan made their way to Scarborough Beach and to the Rendezvous Perth Hotel for the reception where the celebrations continued.
Katerina and Johnathan were living and working in Abu Dhabi for several years, so planning the wedding from overseas was not the easiest with their workload and time differences. Katerina’s parents stepped in and took on the role of wedding planners. It felt right to choose a venue by the beach with amazing ocean views.
The hotel is located directly across the road from the Scarborough Beach foreshore and on a clear day has uninterrupted views to Rottnest Island.
The Mentelle Ballroom at Rendezvous Hotel Perth has stunning views of the ocean, so it was important to style the room so that the views were not interrupted. Although the bridesmaids were wearing a soft pink gown, the room was styled in a classic white theme with the tropical greenery to compliment the ocean setting.
Katerina chose our elegant white flower towers with a white orchid and green foliage arrangement for the top of the towers. Romantic candle lighting around the base complimented the centrepiece.
The bridal party was made up of 3 bridesmaids and 4 groomsmen plus the bride and groom but they chose to have a Sweetheart Bridal Table with just the two of them. That way the bridal party could sit next to their own partners and other guests.
The music, drums, singing and traditional Macedonian dancing continued into the night and it was a wonderful celebration for this gorgeous couple.
Following on from this amazing day, Katerina entered the True Bride Australia “Bride of The Year” competition and she won the December Bride of the Month and will now join all of the other monthly finalists for 2019 Bride of The Year.
Katerina, we wish you every success and you definitely have our vote!!
